


Bring a light rain jacket, clothing that can be layered as the temperature can vary during the course of the day, and comfortable walking shoes. The cottage has umbrellas for your use and an assortment of mud boots should you elect to stroll through the nearby fields.
Ireland is 220 volt so visitors from North America should remember to bring an adaptor. The cottage does not offer a hair dryer.

When you book your holiday stay, a 25% deposit will be requested. This can be paid by credit card or online via PayPal. Full instructions will be given over the phone or by email. The balance of payment is due upon arrival. An added charge for electricity and heat used during your stay will be due at check-out.
The cottage has a visitor's information booklet to help with the general use of things in the cottage and local reference telephone numbers. In addition we offer brochures and reference material on things to do and places to see. Plus we're generally next door if you need assistance.
The cottage does not have a telephone, but if you have a GSM mobile phone, it will work throughout Ireland. (You may want to check with your service provider regarding the rate while in Ireland.) Or you can walk next door (to us) to use the telephone.
The cottage rate includes free WiFi internet access. Please give us prior notice about any other communication or delivery needs and we'll be happy to assist.
The nearest shop for provisions is a 15-minute drive to Abbeyleix, where there are also pubs and restaurants. The closest pub to the cottage is a 15-minute walk down the road. The visitor's information booklet in the cottage contains the names and telephone numbers for additional area restaurants. For your convenience, we stock the refrigerator with an assortment of basics (such as milk, cheese, butter and bread) and are more than happy to try and honor special requests.
We can provide you with the contact details for local babysitting services so you may make your own arrangements.
The nearest hospital is in Portloaise, a 20-minute drive. There is also a day clinic in Athy, just 15-minutes away.
The cottage is surrounded by green pastures and country roads worthy of a stroll and your camera in tow. The local pub, The Swan, is a 15-minute walk from the cottage and a true Irish experience.
We offer driving directions as well as a local area map. However, we recommend you download a map, get a map from your car rental company or purchase a detailed road atlas early in your journey.
